Richard J. Herman Early Career Development Grant

About the grant

The Wildlife Disease Association is pleased to announce the call for proposals for the Richard J. Herman Early Career Development Grant for Wildlife Health Professionals. This grant is supported by and aligns with the goals of the Carlton M. Herman Founders Fund (CMHFF).

The purpose of this grant is to help early-career scientists launch their careers in wildlife health studies by supporting their transition to professional roles and enhancing their ability to contribute to the field of wildlife health.

Proposals should address wildlife health at a population level in relation to ecosystem or habitat changes.

The goal is to support activities that promote the health and welfare of free-ranging wildlife through research, application, dissemination of knowledge, or capacity building.

Grant proposals not exceeding US $20,000 are due by midnight Eastern Standard Time on January 30, 2026
